The first affordable housing lifestyle estate on KwaZulu-Natal’s South Coast, INJABULO Estate, has broken ground.
The development was declared a catalyst for economic development in the region by the Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality and it is located within the newly established smart city zone that stretches from Margate to Port St Johns.
“The lack of affordable housing in South Arica is a well-documented challenge, with a backlog reportedly standing at 2.3 million houses and growing by around 178 000 houses a year. There is an acute lack of well-located housing that is adequate, secure, and affordable,” says Winnie Kyriakides, founder and CEO of Cordev Corporate Marketing and Development.
“INJABULO Estate is a secure lifestyle estate with high-quality finishes that addresses the demand for affordable housing on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, whilst positively impacting the local community through access to healthcare and generating a significant number of employment opportunities for locals.”
Developed by Cordev Corporate Marketing and Development in partnership with TSW Properties, the estate will ultimately consist of 254 freehold, free-standing erven and designer homes with two-bedroom units priced under R1 million and three-bedroom homes prices at under R1.2 million.
INJABULO Estate is located approximately 4km from Margate City Centre, good schools, and the nearest hospital. Buyers will have a choice of lot size, building size, or location per building phase with optional extras that can be bolted on such as lock-up garages. Stand sizes vary from approximately 220m2 to just over 600m2.
It will feature a medical facility, pharmacy, mini-supermarket, gym, hairdresser, special community centre, entertainment venue and other essentials with controlled access for visitors from the rest of the community while providing landscaped recreational park-like spaces, including gardening spaces to grow fresh produce, and walking and cycling trails.
“We went to great lengths to ensure a positive community impact through this development. It is important for us to ensure that non-resident community members would have access to the on-premises healthcare and other facilities, such as the community centre,” comments Kyriakides.
INJABULO Estate is launched on the 19th of September 2022 with an anticipated three-year development pipeline. Construction will be split into five phases with the first phase consisting of 60 homes and a solar farm earmarked during the second phase.
